Terms of service

Plain-English terms so we both know where we stand.

Last updated: TODO (date)

1. Who I am and what I do

These terms apply to services provided by Tyler's Tech Support, a sole trader business run by Tyler Blake ("I", "me"), to you ("you"). I provide IT support at your home, including device setup, repairs, maintenance and one-to-one guidance, and consultations for businesses on office setups and IT infrastructure.

2. Booking and visits

I work by appointment. We'll agree a time that suits us both. Please make sure someone is available at the agreed time, and that I can safely reach the equipment I need to work on.

3. Prices and payment

  • My rate is £30 per hour, including travel time.
  • There's a minimum charge of £10.
  • No fix, no fee: if I'm unable to resolve the problem you asked me to fix, I won't charge you for it.
  • I'll agree the price with you before I start work. If a repair needs parts or new equipment, I'll tell you the cost first so you can decide. (TODO: confirm.)
  • I'm not VAT registered, so the price I quote is the price you pay.
  • I'll send you an invoice when the work is done. Payment is due on receipt unless we've agreed otherwise. (TODO: confirm your payment terms.)
  • Card payments are taken securely through Stripe. See the payment page.

4. Cancelling or rearranging

There's no charge for cancelling or rearranging an appointment, but please tell me as early as you can. (TODO: confirm.)

5. Your data and backups

Where I can, I'll help you back up important files before I make changes. I'll take reasonable care with your devices and information, but you're responsible for keeping backups of anything important. How I handle personal information is explained in the privacy policy.

6. My responsibility to you

I'll carry out my work with reasonable care and skill. If something I've done isn't right, tell me and I'll put it right. (TODO: state any guarantee period you offer, such as "for 30 days".)

I'm not responsible for losses I couldn't reasonably have foreseen, or for problems that existed before I started work, or that are caused by third parties (such as your internet provider or a device's manufacturer). Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you're a consumer, your statutory rights aren't affected.

7. Stopping a job

I may decline or stop a job if it would be unsafe, unlawful, or beyond what I can properly do. If that happens, I'll explain why and, under "no fix, no fee", you won't be charged for work that didn't solve the problem.

8. If something goes wrong

If you're unhappy with anything, please tell me at [email protected] or on 07871 215087, and I'll do my best to put it right.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

10. Changes

I may update these terms from time to time. The version on the website when we agree a job is the one that applies to it.
